How Many Children Die Each Year From Child Abuse or Neglect?
The National Child Abuse and Neglect Data System (NCANDS) reported an estimated 1,530 child fatalities in 2006 (the latest year when numbers are available). This translates to a rate of 2.04 children per 100,000 children in the general population. Or, think of it another way — that’s 4 kids that die each and every day.

I want to discuss the painful issue of child abuse. Ive chosen this topic because I continue to see an increasingly large amount of suffering brought about by this vicious cycle. We as a society need to address this issue and provide help to its victims, both the children and the adults.

“I just hate myself. I keep thinking there’s something I should have done, should of said to stop it. I just feel so dirty.” – Lisa. “Childhood sexual abuse is…an overwhelming, damaging, and humiliating assault on a child’s mind, soul, and body…The abuse invades every facet of one’s existence,” says the Right to Innocence, by Beverly Engel.

Parents are God’s chosen vehicles to bring life into this world. Yet every parent has the potential to become a child abuser. In a world that has lost its soul and suffers from ‘poverty of humanism,’ it is no wonder that the incidence of child abuse is escalating, in spite of the fact that only a fraction of cases is reported.
