The thought of providing the automotive industry with a bailout is disturbing. The automotive industry has had 35 years to learn to compete with foreign manufacturers and prepare for the day when oil prices and demand skyrocketed. If they need a bailout, it had better come at some cost to the management and ownership for taxpayers bailing them out. If Detroit cannot create real change on their own, this bailout needs to force them to make those changes.
